Prof. Wei Tao is the Farokhzad Family Distinguished Chair for Innovation and Principal Investigator in the Center for Nanomedicine, Faculty Member in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine, and Faculty Member in the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is also the first Distinguished Chair professor as an assistant professor in his institution. He has been a Clarivate’s Global Highly Cited Researcher continuously since 2021. He is an elected Fellow of the International Association of Advanced Materials (FIAAM). Prof. Tao’s research interests include biomaterials, nanotechnology and drug delivery, as well as their various applications in translational medicine.

He serves on the scientific committee as either an invited award nominator or an invited grant reviewer for European Research Council, NIH (US), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation), Swiss National Science Foundation (Switzerland), Dutch Research Council (Netherlands), Israel Science Foundation (Israel), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (Canada), JDRF (Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge, UK), VinFuture Prize (VinFuture Foundation, Vietnam), MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 (TR35), etc. He also serves on numerous editorial boards including as Founding Editor-in-Chief of Biomedical Technology (Elsevier/KeAi's new journal), Deputy Editor of Exploration (Wiley's new journal), Associate Editor of Journal of Nanobiotechnology (IF~10; Springer Nature & BMC) and Aggregate (IF~19; Wiley); Editor of PNAS (IF~11); Guest Editor of eLife, etc.; Senior Editorial Board Member of Materials Today (IF~24, Elsevier), Bioactive Materials (IF~19; Elsevier/KeAi), Nano-Micro Letters (IF~27; Springer Nature), etc.; and Advisory Board Member of Matter (IF~19; Cell Press).
